Ethiopia: a solidarity trip that made the map feel huge

A group of ChezNous students travelled as volunteers to a summer school in Debre Zeit, about 50 km from Addis Ababa, alongside the Salesian Missionaries of Don Bosco. There, they spent weeks with around 400 Ethiopian children: classrooms of packed earth and chalk, a coffee ceremony that was never in a hurry, an impromptu football match that needed no translator. And, in the middle of the trip, a stop none of them will forget: the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, seated in the very Nelson Mandela Hall, the grand plenary chamber beneath the golden emblem of an entire continent.
